to the intelligence assessment. >> general, we have the gop still suggesting that the obama administration concealed the fact benghazi was a terror attack for political reasons. from what we have learned from general petraeus's testimony, doesn't it seem the administration held back information, if they did so it was because a genuine national security concern existed? >> well, you know, my take on this, alex, this is centralist political posturing inside washington. the problem was we had inadequate ground security there. that's a state department function, not cia. when the thing went bad we had this am bass do, bilingual in arabic, he shouldn't have been there. that was the problem. but -- characterized the mob was minutiae for good next sakes. libya is a mess. there's no government, no army. it's not a success. probably better than having that monster gadhafi and his family in charge of it. but that's the problem. they have to get their eyesight up. we've got a war in afghanistan going that's running us $6 billion a month and several hundred killed and wounded a month. and here we're focused on
. it's certainly a huge deal for the obama administration. we have new details about when and how the president was told about the allen bombshell. and the latest development, our chief white house correspondent jessica yellin is joining us now. jessica, first of all, what are you learning? >> hi, wolf. we understand that the president was first told there might be trouble with general allen and this investigation on friday, when the white house's counsel office was notified that there could be trouble with his nomination to become nato supreme allied commander. then on monday evening, the president was notified that secretary of defense leon panetta has referred to matter to the defense department's inspector general. keep in mind, now, according to the timetable, the president had also just been told on thursday about general petraeus' indiscretions, so it must have been an awful lot to take in all in one week, right after the election. secretary -- press secretary jay carney says, though, it was out of the white house's hands, this time frame, for their notification. listen to
. >> stephanie: okay, lieutenant colonel calf peters fox security news expert. >> the obama administration just as the administration claimed that there was purely coincidence of the benghazi conflict was attacked on the anniversaries of september 11th. now it's purely coincidence that this extramarital affair surfaces right after the election. not before but after but before the intelligence chief go to capitol hill to get grilled. i subject that these chicago guys knew of this affair for a while, held it in their back pocket until they needed to play the card. >> these tough chicago guys like eric cantor. >> and the republican guy from washington like jacki schechner was telling us? yeah, chicago guys. i'm sure sheldon knows some chicago guys, get some stuff done. >> stephanie: i'll have a little chat with karl rove about the money. >> where did you keep it? what did you do with it. >> stephanie: check in that bag of vipers for the money. >> where's our money, a bag of broken glass. there's your money. >> it's right out there outside of the window. lean out a little further. >> stephanie: jon
as one of the most popular members of the obama administration. clinton talks about how she's been in the political spotlight for 20 years. and she wants her life back. fair enough. says she wants to sleep, relax. okay. but what about after that? while hillary clinton has repeatedly said she won't run for president again, this is the same woman who says politics is in her dna. she is after all a clinton. and with a resume that includes secretary of state, senator, first lady, well, a democratic nomination is probably hers for the taking if she wants it. vice president joe biden's keeping the door open to a possible 2016 presidential run although he recently acknowledged it might depend on the economy. a memo to the vice president might also depend on hillary clinton. here's the question, is hillary clinton the answer? go to cnn.com/caffertyfile or go to our post on "the situation room" facebook page. never too early to start speculation. >> special for those of us who are political news junkies. i've been saying for a while no inside information. i suspect she still has that passio
to trigger a promised review from the obama administration. the report notes that 69 similar petitions according to the alter net have garnered over 670,000 signatures from all 50 states. prompting a review that will no doubt consist of junior white house staffers enjoying a good laugh before placing them in a circular file. not to be left out someone offered another petition to the administration to strip the citizenship from everyone who signed the petition to secede and exile them. so it is good to know after the election and a decisive democratic victory that we are all united now and will never fight again. travis is calling us from chicago, illinois. good morning travis. you're on the "bill press show." welcome. >> caller: good morning, john. >> john: what a pleasure. >> caller: every time i hear all of this big uproar about benghazi thing, it makes me sick because out here in chicago we've got about 20 kids killing each other every weekend. most of them are innocent bystanders getting killed. there is a good handful
